“I can’t imagine someone really enjoying a book and reading it only once.”

Ministry Leaders Groups
Sure. You read it every week. Maybe? Hopefully every day? But how might reading the Bible together with other colleagues who are in ministry settings help enrich your lens, and maybe, how you teach and preach about this text? Like most things at Peterson House, this is simple and all you need to do is sign up and show up. We will gather together in a group of no more than 12 people and see how the Bible can inspire us and the ministry we do committed to the kingdom work in different places.
We want to create space to help tend to the ministry leaders soul care where they can be served/have the text washed over them in order to care for those they have been called to love. We are committed to creating contemplative space for these ministry leaders where alongside others, in unhurried delight, the Sprit of Truth empowers them to serve faithfully.
(Our in person ministry leaders group will include a simple meal.)
Winter/Spring 2026 Groups
So who is David? Not the one we have dreamed up or narrowed to one particular text or even a good movie clip, but who is the young boy shepherd to bewildered king of Israel who lived a real life attempting to be faithful to the God who called him? Given the amount of material we have from and about David in Scripture we have the chance to sit with a large scope of his life. Though we are not being called to lead God’s people in the same context as David, we are attempting to respond to God’s call upon our own lives.
Each of our groups will over 10 sessions and will begin the week of January 12. Our in person groups will start on January 13 and the virtual groups on January 15. We would love to have you join us.

Fall 2025 Groups
We are excited to offer another new content series for this fall. We will be reflecting on nine different texts, seven from the gospel of John and one from Exodus and Revelation, where we hear the phrase, “I Am.” How is God revealing God’s self to us in Scripture? We want to pay attention to how the Spirit directs us when we listen and are attentive together. We would love for you to join us in this exercise of “unhurried delight.”
The groups will begin the week of September 16 and conclude the first week in December. Our in person Ministry Leader group will meet on Tuesdays from 11:30-1:30 at Journey Community Church over a simple meal and our Thursday virtual group will meet from 8:45-10AM EST on Zoom.

Fall 2025 UKirk Group
Are you a campus pastor? Looking for something that will center your Spirit? Maybe you have noticed the pattern before where when you have not done this well you are in no condition to disciple students. And you have done so much to prepare for the year. No doubt sweat has been poured in one way or another. Identifying and training leaders. Board work. New nameteags. All kinds of welcome opportunities to invite students to grow in their faith alongside other students at a crucial time in their faith formation. You may even have a program or retreat planned this school year entitled “Sabbath” or “Renewal” or “Be Still” to counterbalance the life defined by the university or college (or maybe their parents or their own self imposed patterns).
You are no different than many other pastors and ministry leaders who attempt to care for others and often struggle to care for your own spirit. You know it is important, but it is often triaged to that space of “if I have time” and you know what happens when it finds its way there. You do not have an unlimited reservoir that will protect your spiritual health. It, like your physical body, needs regular care. You are a better pastor for such intentional time. How about we make this super easy for you? Nothing asked. No homework. Free of cost. Just logon and prepare for some rejuvenation from the breath God. Come close. Isn’t this what God has been doing all along?
This fall we will offer our first ministry leader small group specific for pastors who are serving in a UKirk network ministry. The theme for this series is called, “Near Bethsaida” and comes from what Jesus practiced with his own disciples to retreat/renew/be revived in an uncultivated patch of land on the outskirts of Bethsaida on the northern tip of the Sea of Galilee. We have identified this text in Luke along with 5 other texts in Scripture that give us examples of individuals or groups of people who found themselves in such a place where the Lord could renew their spirits. We may not be able to fly you away to the Amalfi Coast, but we can invite you to honor some time away with colleagues to have a pericope of Scripture read over you and pay attention to what the Spirit is saying/instructing/inviting from you alongside others.
The group will be facilitated by John Rogers (Director of Peterson House and former campus pastor) and Rachel Hebert who also served in a campus ministry role in the past. Both John and Rachel served on the UKirk board. If you are interested in learning more about this group or signing up please email John or click the button below.
There will be 9 sessions. Each session will be 1 hour 15 minutes in length. We do ask that you commit to all or miss no more than 2 sessions.
Suggested meeting dates:
Session 1 on September 18
Session 2 on September 25
Session 3 on October 9
Session 4 on October 16
Session 5 on October 23
Session 6 on November 6
Session 7 on November 13
Session 8 on November 20
Session 9 on December 4
This group will meet from 11:30-12:45 PM EST
